Elephant Parade è stata fondata da Marc e Mike Spits nel 2006. Durante una vacanza in Thailandia, Marc incontrò un cucciolo di elefante di nome Mosha, che aveva perso parte della sua gamba dopo aver calpestato una mina. Mosha ha ispirato Marc e Mike a creare Elephant Parade. ‚VOLEVAMO AIUTARE MOSHA E CREARE QUALCOSA DI STRUTTURALE CHE SAREBBE STATO REDDITIZIO A LUNGO TERMINE. QUESTO È L'UNICO MODO IN CUI POSSIAMO FORNIRE ALL'ELEFANTE UN FUTURO SOSTENIBILE‘. La prima mostra Elephant Parade si è tenuta a Rotterdam, in Olanda, nel 2007. ‚Friends of the Asian Elephant Hospital‘, base di Mosha a Lampang in Thailandia, è stata la prima organizzazione a ricevere i contributi generati da Elephant Parade e continua a ricevere fondi per prendersi cura di Mosha. Il 20% dei profitti netti di Elephant Parade viene infatti donato a progetti di benessere e conservazione degli elefanti. LA STORIA DI MOSHA Mosha aveva solo 7 mesi quando ha subito una ferita provocata da una mina mentre camminava vicino al confine birmano.Questa grave ferita ha portato alla perdita della sua gamba sotto il ginocchio che, purtroppo, mette a dura prova gli altri tre arti e la sua spina dorsale. MOSHA È STATO IL PRIMO ELEFANTE AL MONDO A RICEVERE E UTILIZZARE UNA GAMBA ARTIFICIALE Con l'aiuto della gamba artificiale, Mosha è in grado di camminare, ma richiede un nuovo stampo ogni anno. Gli elefanti crescono infatti ogni anno fino a 20 anni di età. Questi nuovi stampi sono una grande spesa perché richiedono un continuo pionierismo in una nuova area della medicina elefantesca e veterinaria. Data l'entità della sua ferita, Mosha rimarrà al FAE Elephant Hospital come residente permanente. ELEFANTE TREE OF LIFE Qualcosa di GRANDE è sbarcato a Hong Kong!
